Background
Zen Homes grew from two things that are usually kept separate: making things look right and figuring out how to build them.
Before construction came a long career in art and education. Then came houses—renovations, additions, new construction, budgets, trades, materials, schedules, and all the problems that appear once a project leaves the drawing board.
That combination still defines the work. Proportion, light, color, materials and sight lines matter. So do cost, durability, sequencing and whether an idea actually makes sense to build. The strongest projects are the ones where those decisions support each other.

Perspective
Good design survives
the jobsite.
A beautiful idea that cannot be built, maintained or afforded is not a good decision. Neither is a technically correct solution that ignores proportion, light, material and how a house feels. The work lives in the overlap.
